It's the beauty of Van Gogh's starry night reflected in your eyes. The edges of pitch black night illuminated into deep blue and shimmering purple by the celestial stars... As seen on the Rodarte spring 2012 runway, this look works for cool days or warm nights. Follow the beauty how to guide to create it yourself.
Now that a small selection of their spring / summer 2012 collection has begun to appear in their stores, Burberry have released the first pictures from the tie-in campaign aimed at promoting both their men’s and women’s collections.
If you take that phrase literally you usually end up with sultry swimwear worn with luxurious jewels, high heels, lipstick and cascades of vintage-style waves. In other words, all the things you don’t want to get wet. But practicality be damned: sometimes, editorially at least, it’s the best way to present a selection of bikinis and draw the viewer in.
Whether you’re a die-hard Lady Gaga fan, completely blasé about her existence, or fearful for the future of pop stardom every time you see her latest crazed stunt, it’s yet difficult to deny her impact. The albums keep on coming and so do the promotional shoots – this time in the pages of Vanity Fair, Gaga is given the typical glaze of Annie Leibovitz drama in shots that range from the expected over-the-top couture to completely nude to surprisingly natural.
Almost on our way to Vienna to watch 30 Seconds to Mars' concert. 30 Seconds to Mars is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1998. Since 2007, the band has consisted of actor Jared Leto (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Shannon Leto (drums, percussion) and Tomo Miličević (lead guitar, keyboards).

Louis Vuitton’s latest Cruise campaign can have all the lush green palms and azure blue seas in the world – when it comes down to it, the thing that makes us want to step into Arizona Muse‘s tie-up espadrilles is her hair and makeup. They’re the elements that pull the campaign over the line, the icing of romantic idealism to the sponge cake of holiday travel. The waves in Muse’s bob undulate with a mix of modern ease and 1920s / 30s glamour (the same formula, one supposes, that the clothing was based on), with dark winged-out eyeliner as the finishing touch.
Donatella Versace arrives at the H&M store on London's Regent Street this morning
"I love London," said Donatella Versace at the launch of the Versace for H&M collection this morning. "It's so exciting. We drove around this morning and saw all the people who have been waiting. It's incredible." As for whether she had ever wanted something enough to sleep outside over night to ensure she got it, the iconic blonde was reflective. "Hmmm, maybe a concert," she smiled.
V Magazine’s “The Model Issue” would hardly be complete without a few beauties of Victoria’s Secret fame spreading their wings within its pages. Candice Swanepoel appears in the shoot Ski Bunny which ventures into the potentially disastrous territory of Pamela Anderson-esque blonde bouncy hair and red hot pants, paired with (the very practical ensemble of) white patent knee-high boots and fluffy white faux fur. But this is a shoot that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is ski bunny by the definition of ladies of leisure, trophy wives and barbie dolls, and Candice pulls it off with a retro kind of flair. One shot seems to tip its hat to Farrah Fawcett with flicked out curls and tanned skin, a white turtleneck and red fur-lined hood. An interpretation of ski bunny that borrows from the 70s, the 80s, and the now.
Giorgio Armani was on hand to open his brand's new hotel in Milan yesterday, in the upper floors of the Griffini-designed, Thirties building that already hosts his Via Manzoni flagship store (picture on the left).
Following the opening of the Armani Hotel Dubai - located in Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building - the 95-room Milan hotel aims to continue Armani's commitment to create a atmosphere conducive to "work, relaxation and pleasure".
As such, the hotel boasts a business centre, with conference rooms and IT facilities; a seventh-floor glass restaurant with views of the Duomo; and a eight-floor, panoramic beauty and treatment centre, gym and pool.
As if confirmation of the perfection of the space was needed, one look at the architects' plans for the hotel reveals that the building itself was created in the shape of an "A".
Every so often there is a designer who either introduces a trend or regurgitates it in fantastical ways. Danny Tang is one of those creative brains who dedicated his first season in 2009 to accessories such as shrugs, collars, belts and neck pieces; a collection of edgy romantic "add-ons" to glam up any LBD-esque look. He then went on to become a sought after brand amongst the press and is still going strong with his range for spring 2012, titled: "A new Dimension".
The striking Swarovski crystal embellishment and sheer silk cape turn Alexander McQueen's navy dress into a modern collectible. Sarah Burton's fabulously feminine aesthetic is apparent in the softly layered skirt, while the velvet panel adds a touch of texture to this statement–making piece (£2,995.00).

Some models have a little something extra: they have presence. Karlie Kloss is one of them. On a runway, she slinks, glides, powers, prowls; when she poses she don’t just use her body but her eyes. A quality like that is more obvious than ever when placed against the starkness of a plain white backdrop. The model has to work twice as hard to captivate, given the surroundings go none of the way to creating any feeling.
Elie Saab named his Spring collection Color Shock, and though he opened with a group of pearly pales, he soon segued into more vivid shades in the bright thread he began for Resort.
The Elie Saab show can be relied upon for billowing, swirling red carpet dresses smothered in glitter and crystals galore that little girls aren’t really allowed to play dress up in and grown-up ones love to sometimes even if they don’t admit it.
The outlook for the High Street just got a little brighter: following a triumphant return to form for the Italian house at Milan Fashion Week, the long-awaited Versace for H&M collection has finally been revealed in its full Technicolor glory. As promised, Donatella Versace has raided the archives to produce a veritable greatest hits and, as expected, it's not for the faint of heart - but at these prices, you can be bold. The range drops on 17 November in stores and online, with a pre-spring collection following on 19 January. Extravagance has never been so affordable.
The wait to see the Versace for H&M collection in full is over - we have it all here to show you. Drawing on the heritage of the legendary fashion house, expect bright prints, bold colours and reinterpretations of iconic dresses. Plus, a first for the H&M designer collaborations, there will be homeware too.
"The collection for H&M is the essence of Versace. For the collaboration we've brought back from the archives, as well as from more recent collections, some of the icons of Versace, such as the bright prints, the Greek key and daring cuts. I can't wait to see how H&M's wide audience will make these pieces their own," says Donatella Versace.
Science has it, since time immemorial, that the human eye is most sensitive to the color yellow. We can vouch with personal experience that a woman's eye is the most sensitive, out of all brands, to Victoria's Secret! Guess what? Here is a combination of both! This one is sure to hyper-sensitize many to its presence, just don it and see the Victorian effect!
Men’s fashion trends are greatly different to women’s. They exist, yes. But their cycle moves much slower. Nowhere is that truer then of men’s suit trends. While there are distinct styles of suits that feature amongst 2011′s fashion trends we should note from the get-go that they’re not unique to the year – in fact, many of the key looks you’ll find in this guide will still be in-fashion come 2012 and beyond. Which is a great thing – it means you can afford to spend more on a suit thus buying a quality piece of workmanship that you’ll still be able to wear for many a year to come. The same can’t be said of most fashion trends.
But what styles, cuts and cloths should you be looking for? Read on to find out.
The final season for the first year of this new decade, and also the season that will go a long way to defining 2012′s fashion trends, autumn / fall 2011 is a crucial period for building your wardrobe and evolving your personal style.
So what’s in store for the seasons for men and women? Seventies fashion remains high on the list of carry-over trends, taking with it the likes of flares and wide-leg pants; while on the tough side, biker and punk follow through to the new season. You can read more about these and other upcoming fall 2011 fashion trends below.
Gucci's 90th anniversary celebrations will culminate with the official opening of the Gucci Museo in Florence today, September 28, 2011. Enjoy our tribute to the House’s historical archive, creative heritage and ongoing innovation.
The Gucci Museo
A year of events in celebration of Gucci’s 90th anniversary will culminate with the official public opening of the Gucci Museo inside the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia located in Florence’s Piazza Signoria. A permanent exhibition from its rich and culturally significant archive, which has been preserved and amplified throughout the years, will be juxtaposed with contemporary art installations supported by the Pinault Foundation. An icon store, bookshop, caffè and gift shop complement the exhibition spaces to create a destination location for visitors.
It’s a simple reality that sometimes the ongoing trend of nudity in fashion is about selling sex. But it’s not always the case. Often it’s about beauty: the beauty of a healthy body, of a glowing golden tan, of the qualities that stir up desire or envy or simply appreciation. Barbara Fialho in Elle Brazil is one of those beauties.
In this shoot featuring Drew Barrymore they’ve pulled together outfits that work every aspect of a star’s life from the red carpet to rehearsals. Yes they’ve even pulled out the cliche Director’s Chair pose. But cliches aside it’s a theme that works, and the outfits are all high-impact with vibrant fall 2011 colours.
We’ve long been fans of the work of photographer Nicolas Guerin. His are photos shoots that are rich in detail, that evoke, that draw you in and let your mind wander. Following on from his rock-edged Into The Wild pictorial, we’ve now secured you a look at Guerin’s work for the 5th issue of Glint magazine – Amour du noir.
Given the racy nature of its barely dressed video and print campaign with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, you'd expect the new Burberry Body fragrance to inspire a line of, well, cold showers.
Instead, it's the first scent to spawn its own ready-to-wear clothing collection, aptly called Burberry Nude. Available for purchase now, the offerings include several reworkings of the classic camel trench coat — from a feminine jacquard number with a bow-tied waist to versions in fur, buttery-soft leather, and glossy satin.
Makeovers and must-haves, fashion and festivities, carnival and costumes, bloggers and buyers, celebrities and celebrations - Vogue's Fashion Night Out had London alive with activity tonight, a balmy evening that made it feel like summer's final fling before the fashion industry knuckles down to a month of international spring/summer 2012 collections - and everyone else looks forward to autumn, preferably with at least one or two wardrobe additions acquired tonight to make it that little bit more tantalising.

Adele is the cover star of the October issue of Vogue. A celebration of all that has come to define the modern English woman, the magazine profiles some of the country's most successful and completely unique female names - from Adele and author Diana Athill to Amy Childs.
"Our cover girl, Adele, has won over the world with her heartbreaking voice and her ability to seem as if she very much herself," says Alexandra Shulman in her editor's letter. "One of the interesting facts of celebrity is that we, the admirers, usually find some particular aspect of our favourite stars to focus on and that generally become 'the point of them'. We like them to be a certain way, and often take a long time to accept any change. So Adele's very normality, her down-to-earth determination not to compromise herself, has become as much a part of her USP as, for example, Madonna's constant, deliberate reinvention."
Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Lady Nini is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season pieces is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself.
Beauty is the most important thing to her, as well as feeling sexy, feminine and confortable. Sparkles and diamonds are a passion and make part of her lifestyle. More than being fashionable, it’s a way of thinking and seeing the world with the joy, fun and enthusiasm that she brings into her everyday life. And this is a theory that she works into her writing. Fashion is a fantasy to be lived!
