Victoria's Secret Bond Street Opening

Victoria's Secret London flagship store launch date has finally arrived. The long-awaited boutique on Bond Street will open its doors today, Wednesday August 29. The new store follows the opening of the smaller Westfield Stratford branch last month.

The impressive 40,386 square-foot emporium lives up to all hype - there are three floors of sparkling, super-glamorous and frilled fancies to choose from. While there are more pink, striped furnishings than fans could possibly wish for, the interior also has a British twist - think decorative paintings, carved, wooden fixtures and giant glass chandeliers. Walls are covered with black and white photographs of the Angels signed by the models themselves, while the shop floor is dotted with costumes from the brand's 2011 catwalk show in all their feathered, winged glory. Other highlights include the fourth-floor, invite-only VIP suite, where high-profile shoppers can sit in a makeshift library on plush sofas as they are presented with the label's latest collections. Sadly for fans, there will be no star-studded launch party - and no Angels will be present to celebrate today's opening. We have our fingers crossed for a London show instead.

The London flagship store has been one of the most anticipated launches of the year, and was first announced over a year ago in August 2011. Originally set to open prior to the Olympics alongside its Westfield sister store, the opening of the huge Bond Street space had been postponed until now.

Guess where we are going today.

Mischa Barton's Boutique Opening Event

Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton says opening her eponymous store has been "quite an adventure".
The stunning actress launched her flagship clothing boutique in London's fashionable east end earlier this week. Mischa is proud of her new venture and says opening her own store seemed the next step after delivering eight successful seasons of her handbag line.

Mischa Barton's Boutique

Mischa Barton has launched her own boutique in London. Following on from her successful bag range the actress has designed her own clothing and cosmetic collections, now available to buy in the new Spitalfields store.

"It's nice that everything now has a home, a hub," she said. "The brand was born in London, so I wanted [the store] to start here. Spitalfields Market is a perfect fit, because even though it's East, it's still very contained. The stores are really beautiful and old, and there are some really interesting brands here. It's a good place to start. Also, now it's super hip."

The clothing collection, she says, is loosely based on her own personal style - but is aimed at a wide-ranging audience. "There are some very young pieces, some more sophisticated, mature pieces, and also some quirky stuff that's more like my wardrobe," she explained. "There are plenty of pieces for people who don't just want to dress like Mischa. It's for women ranging from 15 to 35. There are different pieces that will appeal to different styles, but the main thing is I wanted it to feel functional and easy to wear. (...) It'll be Forties-meets-Seventies with the occasional bit of Twenties - that sounds a bit random, but I'll take elements of different decades," she said.

Price points are affordable, ranging from between £25 and £250 - something that Barton emphasises was important to her.

"I don't think my fans are going out and buying £2,000 bags," she said. "It has to be accessible. I like the idea of making really cool things that are actually available to people."

The Mischa Barton boutique opens today, but will have an official launch day tomorrow Saturday 11 August - during which customers will have the chance to meet Mischa, and enjoy 10 per cent off all purchases along with a glass of celebratory champagne.

What about you, Shining stars, will you visit Mischa Barton's boutique tomorrow?

Le Vie Est Belle

"Life is beautiful. Live it your way"

Yesterday we went to Selfridge's and were introduced to Lancôme's new parfum, La vie est belle. A richly simple balance blending the rare nobility of Iris, the stirring depth of Patchouli and the child-like delights of a gourmand accord. As usual, with most Lancôme products, we couldn't resist it!
