Karlie Kloss for Numéro October 2011

Some models have a little something extra: they have presence. Karlie Kloss is one of them. On a runway, she slinks, glides, powers, prowls; when she poses she don’t just use her body but her eyes. A quality like that is more obvious than ever when placed against the starkness of a plain white backdrop. The model has to work twice as hard to captivate, given the surroundings go none of the way to creating any feeling.

In this shoot for Numéro, Kloss holds the power in the subtlety of a half-smile or in a smouldering glare. It’s not surprising she’s in demand both on the catwalk and in print. If it’s not Karlie Kloss catching your attention in Tom Munro’s shoot, it’s likely to be the vibrant gloss of colours. The styling by Charles Varenne hits on the right colour trends for Fall 2011, from Gucci’s rich teal and burgundy hues to the brights at the neon end of the scale. And the important thing to complete any colour-rich look such as these? Equally as eye-catching lipstick in Fall’s colours.

Karlie Kloss goes retro glam for this colorful, bright shoot in the latest issue of Numéro shot by Tom Munro. Styled by Charles Varenne, Karlie’s looks include high impact selects from the likes of Paul & Joe, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, D&G, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière, Prada, Lanvin and others. An elegant up-do by David von Cannon and dark lips with barely-there brows by Yadim finish off Karlie’s bold looks.
