Not a mermaid!

Take a deserted beach, a beautiful girl and some sexy swimsuits, veil them all in a gentle, golden light and add some solitary rocks to complement the otherworldly atmosphere.
Instead of the typical bombshell, covered in sand and bearing a sultry look in her eyes, allow yourself to be seduced by the mermaid-like beauty, by her dreamy eyes and black hair cascading in loose, messy waves, by her mesmeric silhouette and her own tales of the soul.

Lady Gaga for Versace

Lady Gaga's career has seen her appear in many surprising guises, but the latest one seems very familiar. The singer looks unnervingly like Donatella Versace as she poses for the new Versace campaign, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Sporting waist-length, poker-straight, platinum-blonde hair, Lady Gaga reclines on a sofa in a pale lilac Versace dress and chunky silver accessories. The campaign bears the collection's name, Lady Gaga For Versace, for which the company has established the hashtag #VersaceLovesGaga.

Luxury In The Seventies

Think of 70's fashion and, whether you lived the decade or not, you’ll likely have some preconceptions of how it should look. One of those may be a leaning towards ultra bohemian hippie styles, but in so far as a revival goes it’s hard to go past the sophisticated side of the era.

Victoria Beckham for Harper's Bazaar

Harper's Bazaar didn't even come out yet, but their May cover star Victoria Beckham is already causing quite a stir. As Jubilee fever sweeps across the nation Harper's Bazaar pays homage to Queen Victoria, as she opens up about her body image, going to bed with David Beckham and winning a British Fashion Award.

Sexy Katy Perry

Katy Perry is not know for being understated or classic; in fact if there’s one word that perfectly defines her public image, colourful might just be it. “She’s a Rainbow”, as the Rolling Stones once sang. And yet Interview Magazine put on their latest cover a barely recognisable Katy Perry in monochrome, with styling that might have been borrowed from the dressing room of Monica Belluci or some other Italianate beauty rather than from Perry’s own kaleidoscopic beauty kit.

Diamonds Bath

Take one of the fashion world’s top models of the moment, ice her up with sparkling fine jewellery from the usual array of brands – preferably styled with more skin than clothing – and shoot a series of up-close portraits. This seems a clockwork formula for Vogue Paris’ Bijoux segments. Nonetheless, Magdalena Frackowiak is particularly and faultlessly gorgeous in the March 2012 issue, styled by Verinique Didry and photographed by Knoepfel & Indlekofer.

Spirit Of The Sea

More inspiration for channelling that elusive, silvery-voiced, mythical creature: the mermaid.
The power combination of Toni Garrn and Camilla Akrans gives us a fairly literal interpretation, styled by Franck Benhamou with plenty of netting, Elie Saab’s shimmering paillettes, and Chanel’s frothy organza that wraps the body like sea-foam.

From Numero issue 130, you can view the full shoot below.

Just Cavalli Spring Summer 2012 Campaign

Just Cavalli

Designer bohemian never looked so good.
Often when a campaign involves a huge cluster of models you don’t know where to look. Things can get too busy. But with Cavalli, that’s really just an exact reflection of the maximalist philosophy behind the clothing – so it works. Boys, girls, bare skin, floating layers, the clothing draped across the bare skin and the girls draped across the boys. Everything in Terry Richardson’s campaign for Just Cavalli spring / summer 2012 has sexy written all over it in leopard print and studded suede.

Kaia Gerber for Young Versace

Like mother, like daughter! The Young Versace spring/summer 2012 campaign features 10-year old Kaia Gerber, the daughter of Cindy Crawford.
Well, you can definitely blame this one on genes.

Tom Ford Spring Summer 2012 Campaign

Tom Ford got behind the camera on his own latest campaign, and it’s fun all the way.  It’s not charged with intense eroticism, nor does it brood with sultry seriousness.

Best Campaigns Of Spring Summer 2012

Today we bring you some of the new campaigns for Spring Summer 2012; well, the ones we believe to be the best... More to come in future posts, so stay tuned!

Versace
What could exude summer glamour more than Gisele Bundchen clad in bright white Versace beside a sun-drenched California swimming pool? The images, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and creative directed by Giovanni Bianco also star Ryan Barrett, Joe McKenna and David Bradshaw in the label’s menswear.

Fetish In The Office

How does a fashion photographer, who specialises in the edgy and the fetishist, go about conceptualising a campaign for an office storage company?
For Peter Coulson, working with Australian brand Planex, the answer was obvious: a black and white shoot that would doff its hat in homage to the late, great, Helmut Newton.
Office storage might not seem conducive to the kind of sex-appeal Coulson had in mind – but as the final images show, anything can be sexy with the right degree of imagination.

For more of the campaign, which stars models Natascha Verkaik, Kaye Waterhourse and Claryssa Humennyj-Jameson, with styling by Kelly Defina, please continue reading below.

Lady Gaga: Naked Muse

Whether you’re a die-hard Lady Gaga fan, completely blasé about her existence, or fearful for the future of pop stardom every time you see her latest crazed stunt, it’s yet difficult to deny her impact. The albums keep on coming and so do the promotional shoots – this time in the pages of Vanity Fair, Gaga is given the typical glaze of Annie Leibovitz drama in shots that range from the expected over-the-top couture to completely nude to surprisingly natural.

Ski Bunny

V Magazine’s “The Model Issue” would hardly be complete without a few beauties of Victoria’s Secret fame spreading their wings within its pages. Candice Swanepoel appears in the shoot Ski Bunny which ventures into the potentially disastrous territory of Pamela Anderson-esque blonde bouncy hair and red hot pants, paired with (the very practical ensemble of) white patent knee-high boots and fluffy white faux fur. But this is a shoot that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This is ski bunny by the definition of ladies of leisure, trophy wives and barbie dolls, and Candice pulls it off with a retro kind of flair. One shot seems to tip its hat to Farrah Fawcett with flicked out curls and tanned skin, a white turtleneck and red fur-lined hood. An interpretation of ski bunny that borrows from the 70s, the 80s, and the now.

Karlie Kloss for Numéro October 2011

Some models have a little something extra: they have presence. Karlie Kloss is one of them. On a runway, she slinks, glides, powers, prowls; when she poses she don’t just use her body but her eyes. A quality like that is more obvious than ever when placed against the starkness of a plain white backdrop. The model has to work twice as hard to captivate, given the surroundings go none of the way to creating any feeling.
